The children have been busy in outdoor adventure with Jon making bug house's and Quesada's on the fire pit. Inside we have been baking coconut and cherry cake, mixing apple juice and sparkling water to make 'fizzy apple'. We have also been printing with fruit and vegetables and making huge towers with the big bricks in the garden.
This weeks Bake!
Today we made fruity, nutty, seedy, oaty cookies that are packed full of good energy ingredients. The children enjoyed getting stuck in with squeezing the honey, and tasting or smelling each ingredient as they mixed them in. The recipe and photos can be found on our Facebook page.
Outdoor Adventure's
We have continue with Jon and our Outdoor adventures sessions on a weekly basis again this Pre-school year. The children access either an hour's session each week or a longer 2 hour session. During their Outdoor Adventures this year the children have explored mini beast's, made foot prints in clay, recorded that birds that they have seen in the garden and went on a bear hunt. The children have also experienced popping pop corn over a lighted fire - all highly supervised, whittled wood using a vegetable peeler, and made the most of what the weather has to offer them, from frosty days, rainy days and our favourite sunny days.
More Yummy Baking
We've chopped, weighed, cracked, whisked and dolloped this morning making some delicious apple and cinnamon muffins.
Cheese Scones
This week we have made cheese scones with Jo, looked for bugs and leaves in the garden with Jon and Outdoor Adventures. We have also been experimenting in making our own play dough - some children made 'pizza' with their dough! We have also been practicing our songs for next weeks Harvest Service...
Outdoor Adventures
This week in Outdoor Adventures the weather was a little bit wet, but, that didn't stop the children having a great time with Jon. There were bug finger puppets and the children made hedgehogs with clay and sticks that they found in the garden.
Spaces available
Welcome back to a new academic year!
Here are a few photo's of busy first week back, with a trip to Stokes last Friday to choose a piece of fruit for our snack! Each child paid for their piece of fruit, developing early maths skills. We also took time to stop and look in the windows of the shops as we walked along. We have had our first coffee morning welcoming new families and saying 'Hello' to those returning to us. We have been painting, in the garden enjoying the late summer sun, and using our lemon and orange scented play dough.
Thank you!
We have been overwhelmed with cards, gifts, chocolate, wine and flowers and end of year 'Thanks you's'. There have been tears today both from parents and staff as we have said goodbye to those going onto school in September. It has been a pleasure to spend time, to 'teach', to laugh, get messy and play 'tag and 'catch' with all of the children who have been at Pre-school this year. So we would like to say 'THANK YOU' for all of our lovely gifts and words that have been said and written in cards. We hope that you all have a lovely summer holidays, and we look forward to another busy year in September.
End of term fun - Zoolab
We celebrated the end of term with a visit from Zoolab today with 'Terry' the snake, 'Hermonie' the hermit crab, 'Turbo' the giant snail and 'Bubble's' the rat!! All of the children looked, some touched and some held the animals!! We also spent lot's of time in the garden, with a picnic for lunch from BAKERS of Bath, and finished the day with a story and Tooty ta, our favourite action song..
